RUPAMU
adopts a multi-disciplinary approach to research, training and consultancy
activities, using NISER experts and collaborating with governmental
and non-governmental agencies.
The main functions of RUPAMU are fourfold:
(i) conduct research into the numerous problems of the rural areas
with a view to making the results available for police purposes;
(ii)
provide consultancy services to Local State and Federal Governments
as well as Non-Governmental Organization (NGOs) on rural development
issues;
(iii) organize workshops and conferences or rural development issues
for the benefit of governments at all levels including their agencies
as well as NGOs and private sector organizations interested in rural
development; and
(iv)
harness existing knowledge and generate relevant information with
a view tc developing a data base for effective rural policy management
