INDIGENOUS KNOWLEDGE (IK) RESEARCH PROGRAMME

This research programme aims at producing knowledge about the organisation of the Nigerian society in the pre-colonial era with a view to identifying those indigenous knowledge systems which may be instrumental to the contemporary Nigerian society. The following are the main research projects being undertaken under the IK research programme:

- Indigenous methods of controlling agricultural pests and diseases in selected areas of Nigeria.

- Indigenous weaving technology in Nigeria.

- Indigenous selection of political leadership in Nigeria.

- Settlement planning in pre-colonial Nigeria.

- Traditional fiscal and monetary operation in Nigeria.
