CALL FOR PAPERS
Research for Development
is a multi-disciplinary, international peer-review journal of the Nigerian Institute
of Social and Economic Research (NISER), Ibadan. NISER is the foremost
socio-economic policy think-tank in Nigeria, established over 50
years ago. NISER's multidisciplinary functions cover areas of agricultural
development, rural policy analysis, business and technology development,
economic development, human resources development, physical development
including environment, settlement and transport issues, political
development and social development.
Papers are invited from contributors
in all the outlined fields, provided that they focus on developmental
issues especially relevant to Nigerian and African development for
our regular twice-yearly volumes. Papers should as much as possible
be based on empirical research. Therefore papers that present counterfactual
analysis of these evolving scenarios will be of particular interest.
While sound analytical models are encouraged, technicalities should
be couched in language that makes it friendly to a wide range of
readership within the social-science sphere.
Papers are also solicited
for a special issue on Globalisation, African Common Market and
National Development Planning Frameworks to be published early in
2005. This issue is to explore
not only the internal readiness of national governments to function
within the Union but also the preparedness of this African strategic
union to checkmate global and other regional integration frameworks.
Papers analyzing related policy packages especially NEPAD,
AGOA, Cotonou agreement and so on will be of particular interest.
Deadline for submission to this issue is November 30, 2004.
